Budget Laptop Buying Advice

I'm looking to replace my son's aging laptop for Christmas and am in need of some recommendations, either for specific laptop models or minimum specifications I should look for.
He mainly uses it for secondary schoolwork and occasionally playing Roblox. He also has a Huion Kamvas graphics tablet that his current (5 year old bottom of the range Asus) laptop is too feeble to run at anything other than a glacial pace, and that I'd like to be useably responsive on whatever we buy him.
My budget is fairly tight - £400 absolute maximum, but would prefer to spend closer to £300 if possible.
Would something like the Asus X415 (i3 with 4gb RAM and integrated graphics) be up to the job be up to the job?
Many thanks,
Andy
