I bought these yesterday at Lidl in the reduced bit, they are about to go out of date, will they be ok to eat still? Also Ive never had them before how do I cook them? No instructions on the tub 🤷‍♀️ I know they say ready to eat but can they be warmed up?

It says ready to eat so I’m presuming you’d eat them cold.
You can try zapping a bit of sauce in the microwave to test if it separates or not if you want it warm.

They will be fine to eat. Best before just means that after that date the texture might change. You don’t need to be as careful as you are with use by dates.
And even if it was a use by date, I’d still eat it today or tomorrow. Things don’t go bad just past midnight because the date has changed.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Thats good to know about dates! I always thought fish had to be cooked tho

You might find this helpful for future reference.

The herring is pickled or cured and prepared before being put in the sauce. You’re not eating raw fish that’s going to poison you.
