  • Hello all - hope any of you in the areas of forecast high winds are staying safe. It’s starting to get breezy here but we’re not forecast for much more than that, it’s cold again though!

    Today:
    - checked banking
    - opened the new eSaver account and transferred the first £50 thst we plan to set aside against this year’s higher energy bills.
    - checked prolific and cashed out £20
    - couple of small OnePoll surveys
    - paid £20 to my 0% card - now sub £200, Yay! 😁
    - refilled all our bird feeders before the local feathered ones decide we’re having “supply chain issues” and go elsewhere!
    - been to the gym including a decent 30 minute treadmill run/walk to continue rehabbing my poorly foot

Today will be a NSD, and dinner tonight is going to be a lamb/cauliflower/ spinach coconut curry - which will have as it’s basis Rick Stein’s korma recipe from his India book, one of my favourite recipes and books. I’m planning this afternoon to be a nice combination of getting odd jobs done, along with a bit of laziness too.

    Afternoon all :)
Very cold here today after the weekend's horrendous storm. We were very lucky, only a bit of wet snow that soon disappeared, no power cuts (though the internet went down for a while) and we lost the garden fence one side, which will be an expensive nuisance to replace, but others had it far worse. So today OH has been clearing away the broken fence panels (all sawn up now for fire lighting wood - no waste). I have made carrot and coriander soup for lunch, to use up some ageing carrots and coriander, and experimented with sticky toffee pudding. Now I have never made this before, can't think why. DS asked me to make desserts for our Christmas day meal, which he and his partner are hosting, and specified sticky toffee pudding and mince pies. Mince pies I make every year, including making my own mincemeat, but I thought I ought to try out sticky toffee pudding to see if I could make it ok. I used Mary Berry's recipe, and though we haven't eaten it yet, we did taste the toffee sauce, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Not something that I will be making often, as it won't help our waistlines, but hopefully it will be a lovely treat for Christmas lunch. And meanwhile we get to eat the practice run!
Heating has been on all day, but it will go off shortly when we light the stove.
Washing has been out on the line but will go on the airer shortly
Dinner will be simple pesto pasta today (to allow room for that pudding!), and using up a pot of HM pesto from the freezer.

@Bagpuss741 none of the rest of us has either - and it sounds like you have a very good reason! Take it easy and give yourself time to recover properly.

Good work on the meal planning and food ordering - absolutely sounds like a good thing to do to not have to go out when you're feeling poorly.

I don't seem to have had much to report this week
    - We've both been paid and the usual start-of-month money shuffling has happened.
    - I've also done a few more ahead of time shuffles to the regular spending credit card as well, including a personal annual subscription for £55 which I paid all bar the last pennies from the EOM surplus in my own account. Go me.
    - Banking has been kept an eye on, all in order,
    - my OnePoll payment came through and got thrown at the 0% card.
    - Meals have all been as per plan - I did have to (very unusual for me) do a quick dive into T's last night for the onions I forgot when we did the weekly shop though.
    - Meal plan is written for next week - shopping list still to be done though

I may need to bake at the weekend - I have two bananas in the freezer so may make banana bread muffins. No better reason than I want them used!
