Where to buy secondhand books online ?

I have used eBay, Amazon UK, Amazon US and Oxfam to buy secondhand cook books (especially vintage ones) and wondered whether MSErs have any other recommendations please ?

    Great question.

I've used World of Books 3 or 4 times - generally pretty cheap and I've always had a good experience.

Hive is good too - it supports independent book stores.

I've not had any experience buying vintage books though.

Looking forward to hear further inspiration from other posters.

    Thanks,

Abebooks - especially for finding listings (internationally) of rarer items.  If the bookseller has their own website it can be worth checking that too, sometimes they have cheaper prices when they aren't paying a marketplace.

depends on the type of books you are after.

    ABE has a good reputation

but you might do better with a specialist shop if you can find one that focuses on what is special to you

  • Thank you for all the suggestions.

I have bought from World of Books via eBay and Amazon but never thought to see if they had their own website ! Feeling stupid now.

I hadn't heard of Hive or Abe before so will investigate those.

More suggestions would be good, too.
