The Government has told MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) it will stop sending out letters with envelopes wrongly advising people to switch energy tariff after MSE revealed that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) had sent the misleading advice to 10 million people.

Will comparison sites and providers also stop suggesting that switching to a more expensive tariff is "a saving", just because SV was kept high, and they don't compare to what you had been paying? Rates can go up 50% but as long as they compare to an even higher figure, they could still say it's a 'saving'! Even recently, my provider still wanted me to select a fixed tariff "for a cheaper deal"!
