If you are happy with a bit more volatility, then Vanguard's FTSE Global All Cap Fund is worth a look. I used to spend a lot of time investigating options, but if you can be flexible as to when you need the money, then short of some very unlikely events, it is hsrd to go wrong with it.Think first of your goal, then make it happen!1

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions.
I haven't needed to take out a penny for the past 5 years and have in fact been adding to my savings and pension all that time. I live frugally because my needs are very simple, so I always have at least £1k spare every month.0
