But it is up to them, so you need to comply. You don't get to tell them that it is excessive or unnecessary. If you are having a few days away, how does that prevent you taking a call?0

Maybe they don't believe people who say no to everything? Or maybe they randomly check every so many, and yours is the lucky number?0

saunaboy said:Hi,
Was offered a job to start in Dec - basically a WFH marketing role. No driving, apart from once or twice a year going down to London from home. But I answered yes to is driving needed based on that. Prob a bit of travel & chances are a hire car then.
Filled in an online form last night & answered no to all questions apart from yes to 'have you been absent from work in last 2 years'? Yes - 2 days with a bad cold.
Yes to do you drink alcohol but under 14 units/week.
Got email today saying 'based on your responses we are unable to certify you as fit for work & need to have a call between you & a clinician". They have set an appointment for when I was planning to have a few days away pre-start & they can't move it due to busy diaries.
Anyone have any experience of this? Seems massively excessive....!!
Churchill said - "Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Appears to be another job not as described.

"took a job that has turned out to be a mile from what was described. I have a firm job offer on the table elsewhere so I am off."
So rude to delete the post to deprive others of context for the replies.2 -
Is this job the 'firm' offer job? Because it doesn't appear so?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

You do know that they can give you notice, or dismiss you for almost any reason ( or no reason ) for two years? Your signed contract and start date are worth next to nothing.saunaboy said:I'll jump back in here.
References were all confirmed fine (was worrying about nothing about current boss she was great).
I have a signed contract & a start date. Completed everything needed to start...apart from the health thing. Mentioned in earlier thread it is a desk job, hence me scratching my head.
Just seems like overkill to need to go & see a doctor.0 -
Can we get a mod to delete thread please? Shouldn't really have started it.0

But why? You asked for advice. Advice that could be useful to others. There's nothing identifying you personally. Did you not realise that for most purposes, you are at the employer's call for two years?saunaboy said:Can we get a mod to delete thread please? Shouldn't really have started it.1
