Dentist put up private plan on 2nd month into 12 month contract, can I do anything about it?

I signed up for a private plan because I can't get nhs anywhere close. I signed up for £25.75 a month, made an appointment for 3 weeks time... they cancelled a few times so I didnt get my 1st appointment until the day the 2nd payment came out, which was irritating enough! but I also get a letter today telling me that my monthly charge is rising to £28, giving me 1 month notice!
I had a look and see this in the terms and conditions small print:
  1. 8.1  For capitation plans, the Dentist may change the Patient’s categorisation under the capitation scoring system at any time for clinical reasons. This may result in a change to the monthly membership fee.

  2. 8.2  Except where condition 8.1 applies, the Dentist may increase the monthly membership fee for the Plan once every 12 months and will give one month’s notice before the increase is applied. The Dentist has the right to amend Plan Benefits as set out in this agreement and in the practice literature by providing one month’s notice of any such change.

Does this mean there is nothing I can do but just have to pay the extra?

This sounds like an annual fee rate increase.

The annual fee increase will be applied to all the patients of the surgery at the same time, as it would be an admin nightmare having patients on different fees at different times. So I would just say it was just unlucky it fell when it did.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Exactly we have just had Denplan asking at our practice about this years annual increase.
