l have many, but the funnies one that just comes to mind was when l was in hospital yrs ago and my posh MIL visited me and handed me a present. As l finished opening it my FIL turned to his wife and said, 'arnet you going to take and save the wrapping paper' . My MIL looked mortified and denied she reuses wrapping paper.! He just kept saying 'yes you do, you reuse the Christmas wrapping paper as well'. He couldnt understand why she was looking daggers at him lol. She looked at me meekly and was red as a beetroot, Poor woman ,she was always too proud to own up she was just like the rest of us lol. l can post this as she pasted away years ago but she never changed all the years l knew her, looking down her nose on my frugal ways , when all the time she was a 'secret frugaltarian ' lol.

With Covid restrictions last Christmas bags of gifts were passed around from family member to other family members to get things to the right part of the country without unnecessary contact. The Cambridge family told us some things had been put in their bag wrongly but it took until April before we actually managed to see them and the parcel was returned. Turns out Husbands niece had sent us something when we had said not to bother as we just wanted to send to her children. So we messaged and said "Thank you but we said not to!" , return message , was " Sorry , I don't know what you are talking about" , we sent pictures of the gift, then pictures of the label in her handwriting and she still denied it ! ........ Then slowly a faint memory returned , the gift had been on Cambridge families gift list and was wrapped in reused paper complete with old label still attached! I had completely forgotten buying the gift as it was one of many on someone's Amazon list and Husband had done most of the wrapping as I wasn't all that well!! Luckily Cambridge family are quite happy to reuse paper so eventually they got their gift back!! I still haven't explained to niece as I fear we will be called cheapskates !!Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/23
