I am stunned and blown away by your responses. Just stunned! Thank you so so much - so it looks like a DRO might be in order. You are right; I have always been afraid that "they" would take the caravan - and they might. So what I could do is wait until the spring so that if they do take it we can borrow a tent and start again from there. We've become quite hardy living off grid over the last few years. Bless you bless you!

    Things will be ok.

Have you ever approached the council for help with your housing situation? I know some people enjoy living off-grid and you may be one of them but if not it’s something to think about.
  • I'm sorry that this is unrelated but how do people living 'off the grid' have access to the internet? Just one of those things I have always wondered about. I probably have the wrong picture in my head so thought I would ask while I had the chance :)

No one will be taking anything, its not bankruptcy, your assets, as long as they are under the limits, are perfectly safe.

Lots of people make the mistake of overthinking things, just because they owe money, a DRO is not invasive, you deal with an intermediary, over the phone, email, or by post, that`s it, they check over your application, then submit it to the Insolvency service, who in the majority of cases, just rubber stamp its approval.

It really is that simple, no one bothers you, no one checks up on you, after 12 months, there is no fanfare, no paperwork to say "your done", it just ends, and you are debt free, that`s it, nothing could be easier.

DRO`s cost £90.00 to arrange, one reason they are not that widely advertised, is because they don`t make money for anyone, they are a simple and easy way to get rid of problem debt, as long as you meet the requirements of the arrangement.

Take up of them has increased as publicity by the debt charities/CAB, websites such as Debt Camel/MSE etc have introduced them to a much larger audience, just take your time, get as much info as you can, then decide what`s best for you, but you must do something, as your current situation is untenable going forwards.

Good luck, any help or support you need, then please feel free to post again on here.
