Popped back to say - it may not be your CV, it may just be how things are at the moment, don't get disheartened.

For free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.
  • Oh yes, I'm not disheartened, just a little frustrated that I'm trying to do all I can and seemingly not getting anywhere; and the whole time I also have my MiL on my case about this and some other things (mostly health related) that are taking longer than expected to resolve... but that's not relevant to this thread, anyway.
  • Thanks to all for the advice so far, too - I'm definitely taking it all on board, and I'll keep plugging away at this beast until I land that new job; whatever it ends up being!

If you can post a link to your cv with bits taken out we can look at it, put if there's a job in particular you really want, post the advert and we could give some pointers.

and that if they wanted more details, they'd look at the relevant sections!
Thing about this is it is putting the effort on the recruiter to look at your CV and try to work out how well you fit their job and company.  Can you do that work for them and make it easy and obvious to see how you fit.  This is easier the more detail they have put in the job ad or application details.
You mention here the CV - what about the cover letter?  This is often so important and more than just a 'I would like to work for you please see CV'. But say how you fill everything they ask for and make it easy for them to see why they should interview you.

  • Are you public with your CV?

It wasn't instant next day but eventually I have had around 10 recruitment agencies make contact and one employer (legitimate company) found my CV, loved my telesales experience and asked me to apply to their advertised vacancy which was probably not something I would have searched for personally but rather glad they found my CV.

Productive sites for being found have been total jobs and reed.
