Unused Contact Lenses Lens - Sell / Recycle / Donate / Bin ?

Matchbook

I took the plunge a few months back and had laser eye surgery (would recommend IMO) and now have a number of boxes of lenses left over.
I checked the forum but the only posts I can find on this topic are from 2009/2010 so thought it might be worth getting an updated thread going.
So what can I do with unused Contact Lenses Lens, single use dailies??? :
Thanks in advance, and I hope this thread can be of help to others who find it in the future

- Sell - (I know these cant be sold on ebay etc, but can they be sold or given back to any opticians?)
- Donate - can these be gifted to a charity for UK or over seas use?
- Recycle - Where is the best place to recycle these instead of binning them?
Thanks in advance, and I hope this thread can be of help to others who find it in the future

Congratulations on your successful surgery! I'd love to be without any help to see but I'm a big wimp about such ops so I'm stuck with my bifocals. . .
I doubt you'll be able to do much with the lenses you have, unfortunately. It's the same with unused medication. Contact lenses aren't like used glasses though so I doubt they'd be much good for recycling overseas, either.
You could just phone any opticians. They may offer to dispose of them for you but I doubt you'll be able to get anything for them. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1

I've seen people put them on olio and they have gone. If you don't have a very unusual prescription then you might find someone with the same one.Mortgage at 30: £204,750 (08/2020)
