Lowell chasing old debt, best course of action?

Hello, I have a debt outstanding since before 2012 (I believe it was with maybe gratten? I honestly can't remember).
Lowell have been chasing me for this since 2012 and back then I did set up a payment plan £2 a month which I have recently cancelled the direct debit and of course the letters have started and text messages.
The balance remains at £667 - would it be wise paying this or is there a way I could get out of it or even get the amount reduced?
Any info would be muchly appreciated.
Kind regards

The problem with the token offer strategy is that it continually acknowledges the debt and continually restarts the 6-year clock. It's best used as a short-term strategy if at all.
They may or may not start a court claim now - so ignoring them does carry some risk.
What you could try is a cca request. Many catalogue companies, particularly before around 2007, never used to bother getting a signed agreement and so the account is unenforceable.
Even those that did, did not always retain a copy for very long. Whether Lowell would be able to get a copy from Grattan after all this time is probably worth checking.
