Disposal of Shares - CGT increase scenario

Hi,

I'm in the process of deciding whether to dispose shares now or later

If the government were to increase CGT inline with income tax in March/April 2022, being a higher rate tax payer this would have a significant difference from 20% to 45% for me...

If I were to dispose now, and CGT rises in March April ... Would I be liable for CGT at the rate it was when I disposed (20%) or could I be liable for what it goes up to even if I had disposed prior?

Thanks in advance, hope makes sense

Jamie.

Date of disposal is what counts - contract date (date upon which sale becomes unconditional from memory).

I very much doubt that CGT would be charged at 45% rate in any case!
