British Forces Posted Overseas
Options
Hi there,
Does anyone know of anywhere that may accept a loan for a British Forces personnel posted overseas? We're posted in the USA and the main issue we've been having is that we have a US based mobile number, however we could get access to a British number if needed. When we've been enquiring further with a couple, some of them are stating we have to physically been in the UK to get the loan.
We have a UK address, are UK citizens, have British banks, get paid into these banks and pay British tax and NI - we are just unfortunately posted overseas which is no fault or choice of our own - it's part of the job. We can't apply anywhere in the US for a loan for lack of credit history here and we don't get paid into our bank account here or anything. There's nothing specifically offered through the job that we're aware of that we can use or apply through.
Any help would be appreciated as we're just going round in circles! Thanks

As long as you have a UK based address, bank account etc, then I don`t see the problem.
Lots of folk live in the UK, but work abroad, or off shore, for example.
Have you actually applied yet, or are you taking the word of a call handler as to the acceptance criteria ?
A quick Google reveals this -
Forces Finance - Credit Union Savings and Loans for UK Armed Forces

You could try one of the banks who have signed up to an Armed Forces Corporate Covanant - remind them if necessary of the obligation they have signed upto (albeit it will be a commercial decision if you qualify for a loan based on credit history etc).Such as HSBC, who state in theri covanant::Lloyds Banking Group (Lloyds, Halifax etc) are also a signatory:as are Virgin Money:More maybe listed here if you search by name:
