Electric toothbrush for someone with receding gums.

Hi,

I have receding gums, probably as a result of brushing too hard. My dentist has advised that I get an electric toothbrush but there's so much choice out there. Can anyone with receding gums recommend one that has helped stop their gums from receding further?

I'm thinking of going for a sonic one and one that has a small, soft head, because my mouth is small and I want to reduce the risk that I'm going to continue to overbrush my gums. It would also be good if I could buy non-branded head replacements for it, to keep the cost down, though I'm prepared to buy branded if necessary. Anything to save my teeth!  :#

Thanks

  • I've had a few oral b ones over the years. I can't remember what models but they all seemed similarly effective and have a sensor so it buzzes if you press too hard. My gums are also receding but they don't seem to be getting worse since going back to electric and I'm not destroying the enamel as much by brushing too hard.
