O/S Daily Saturday 30 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, had some rain yesterday but was blustery, had a beautiful orange and pink sky as the sun set last night, so hoping we might get some sunshine today - we'll see.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, as I'm working this morning. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and tomato, cucumber and mozzarella salad - all dinners enjoyed by us all. Tonight DS1 going out for dinner then straight out for the evening. Not sure what we'll be eating but I can find something.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted mostly. I wanted to steam clean the kitchen floor but couldn't get the handle part of the steam cleaner undone and couldn't work out why so decided it had enough water already in it picked it up and the handle came off in my hand so at some point I'd undone it without realising.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I'm working my way through the washing, obviously I wash clothes and bedding regularly but when we are in the marina I can do a hot wash which I can't do when we are travelling. Getting it dry is still a challenge though as I'm not allowed to hang it outside.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I've had some rubbish nights this week but last night beat them all. I now feel like a washed out rag. Hopefully I will manage a nana nap this afternoon.
As usual for a Saturday I am off into town on the first bus. Just odd bits needed here and there so should be able to catch the next bus back up. That's if it's running!! The service up here just now can't be relied on with so many buses missing. Apparently there is a shortage of drivers but they don't seem to pull any other services out, it's always ours. And it's a poor service to begin with! Grr rant over.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. I hope dear NELS is perking up a bit. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Good morning everyone
It's a dark and rainy morning here much to the dogs' disgust. I didn't go to bed until 3am and I got up again at 6am so I will be nana napping like a good'un later on.
Had a lovely message from my Lilly to say she is coming to see me today so she can watch some horror films with Phoebe and Lee. I won't be watching as I am a wuss and get scared too easily.
Going to make a red thai curry for dinner. I don't think I've ever eaten a red one, we have the green thai curry quite regularly as it is one of Phoebe's favourites. Shall cook some coconut rice to go with it.
Today will be spent cleaning as I went into the downstairs loo earlier and was shocked and appalled at the grubbiness in there. Steve hasn't cleaned it for a very long time obviously so I will be in there with the bleach and a duster to evict all the spiders that have taken up residence. Once that is done, I want to make sure the upstairs one is clean too. I use a commode so don't go into the loo normally so I was quite upset really to see it looking so bad. Steve does a lot of the housework but with a bloke's eye I think and I want to help out more than I have been.
My best friend's daughter came to see me yesterday for a cup of coffee and a natter. I have known her all her life and at the moment she is in a bit of a pickle and currently living in a hostel with her toddler. I told her she could escape here anytime she needs a break as she is living in one room with a boisterous 2 year old. It was lovely to see her and we talked about her mum who has a chronic illness and is cared for by her stepdad. She told me some things in confidence which made me sad and also made me look at my own situation as me and my friend are very similar. It was food for thought indeed.
I am off to make a cup of tea and plan my day. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx13 -
Morning All
Hope you're all safe from the terrible rain we've had. Very soggy here, due more rain later. The washing can wait until later once I've done a bit of housework, the bathrooms are done but I want to give my bedroom a good clean and tidy, no doubt there will be stray socks hanging around!
Loch swim this morning, shopping and then visiting a poorly friend with some magazines I was given. I must go into the cellar to look for some paint I need for the cupboards upstairs but I think I'll need my wellies.
Hope everyone is well, Florence I love the lady gnomes.
Have a good weekend and take care. XX11 -
morning everyone, mild and wet here again. Went to the hospital yesterday so a Consultant could assess the breast lesion . He feels it is a watch and wait situation at the moment but can be treated with one dose of radiotherapy if things deteriorate. I am happy with that.
Not sure what to do today, probably a mix of reading, knitting and dozing!

Good morning,
I had a poor nights sleep last night🥱, kept waking up. Going for a walk this morning with my younger sister then out for lunch this afternoon with my best friend😁. May try for a nap 😴later this afternoon or may just power through in the hope of a goods night sleep tonight.
Must be awake for strictly though💃🕺
Have a good day 🌻10 -
Morning everyone
Had a lovely day with little great nephew yesterday - boy can he talk! We had some lovely chats and he told me lots about school - it was lovely. Played with Duplo and trains in the morning then got the bus into town - he loves going on the bus - went to the library and then met my mam and DD for lunch. Once home he announced ' I love painting you know' so I got the paints out and he sat for over an hour painting lots of pictures. I've promised to drop them off this morning now they're dry.
Little one is going for her first dancing lesson this morning (!) so I'm going to watch then she'll come back with me as DD is working later.
Hopefully the rain might stop later and we'll get out for a walk after her nap.
Tesco will deliver some shopping - little one loves carrying it from the front door to the kitchen - and is actually a good help as long as I put it away quite quickly! Easy pizza ordered for tea.
Hope everyone has a good day today. Florenceem - love your gnomes - they remind me of the 'tom tom' eldest DD brought me from Sweden last Christmas.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Another wide awake nighter here, after 3am before I went off, then only fitful sleep. Its wet and grey outside, we are going to the market this morning, just need a few bits and bobs, mostly fruit.
Yesterday afternoon we emptied my neighbours garden of all its pots and dug up some plants, The rose is in water, will put it in the garden either tomorrow or Monday I also dug up a couple of lots of the Alstromeria some for me and some for 'B's' DIL. Two wheel barrows made short work of it, my patio now looks like a garden centre. once it dries up the plants will go in the bin and the compost from the pots on the front garden. I do want to try and over winter one of the geraniums, a pretty purple one.
Chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow, also a pack of beef to make a casserole. Think we will have stovies tonight, use up the corned beef I opened in the week.10 -
Morning all, & and a very wet and miserable one it is too. Don't envy DGD who is in her other Nanas caravan in NW Cumbria
We can have a quietish day today as there is no football & DGS has a party but is staying with DS2 tonight. DH might want to get a new phone, he's had it a long time and it's playing up.I could do with a new pack of blank cards as well for my X mas making.
DP1 sounds like you had a lovely time with DGN,great at that age aren't they?Me and DDog have been on a (very) short walk across the road- didn't bother going up to the park as I suspect it'll be flooded , it turns into a lake when it's so wet.Not sure what we'll eat tonight, DH quite likes a curry on a Sat. night.Nice gnomes FlorenceTake care all in this wet & wild weather x

Morning all - it's very watery bluey grey here though dry, so far.My night was better than most, only one brief awake moment, asked Alexa what time it was and then dropped off again very easily.Today I may do a dump trip as I have loads of cardboard and wood ash waiting to be moved out. Yesterday I scanned in loads of paperwork - so much for being paperless - and burnt the papers outside in the chimera. I've layed the fire ready to light when the cold sets in, so far I'm OK.I bought ingredients to make little Halloween cakes for the maybe guisers but won't do that until tomorrow as I'm bound to eat a few if made today. I hope that the boys like them. The new PIV unit has already made a difference to my wee cold stone cottage, it no longer feels damp or too cold. The mark on the wall where the ladder rested to access the loft is annoying me but I'll stop looking at it soon enough. I don't have any matching paint to cover it up and the paint was a special mix done by the decorator who has moved away.I'll watch the final two episodes of the Anne Cleeves Devon story even though I know who the baddie is and I've got several episodes of Guilt to watch too though that's not as interesting. Not much on TV draws me in these days and I've had more than enough of reality shows.Right, have to load the car up and get going. I hope that everyone can stay dry and safe. Happy Saturday to all.11
