Holiday pay..

Hi all!! Please can I have some advice regarding holiday pay, when you leave a job how is this worked out? For example if you are owed 5.5 days holiday, will your holiday pay be equal to the full wage of those 5.5 days or is it equal to a percentage? Many thanks!

    Holiday pay should be at your normal hourly rate.

    Hi Bradden thanks for your reply. Does that mean it will be equal to 5.5 days full wage? As someone has told me upon leaving a job holiday pay you are owed is equal to an hours pay per day rather then a full days wage per days holiday you are owed but this doesn’t seem correct 🤔

    its should be for the number of hours not complete days... unless your contract vstates differently.

    Then that person was wrong.

    Perhaps where the "percentage" mentioned in your OP comes in, is that your holiday entitlement is worked out as a percentage of a full year's entitlement proportionate to the percentage of the holiday year worked up to the time you left.

    So if your holiday year was April to March and you left at the end of September, you would have worked for half a year and have "earned" 50% of your year's entitlement (including bank holidays if they are mentioned separately in your contract).
