Bankruptcy & Endowment Policy

My father took an endowment policy on my behalf just after I was born several decades ago and he has been consistently making payments into it.
I have never paid into myself and complete forgot it existed. I was made bankrupt 4 years ago and i forgot I had the endowment policy so never declared it.

I would like to surrender my policy and get the cash from it but will I run into any issues as i didn't declare it before?
I've had a look online and some say it's exempt if it's older then a few years at the time and others say they had to buy it back.
Not really sure what to do.

If there was a surrender value to it when you were bankrupt, then the funds vest in the bankruptcy estate. If you try and surrender it now the provider will do a bankruptcy search and contact the OR to see if they will claim it.
