O/S Daily Wednesday 27 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry underfoot, air feels chilly again.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a bit of a clear up, menfolk had the remaining chicken and mush pie between them, I had some sausages that needed using up, then we all had mash, carrots, broc and gravy. Tonight will be another clear up, not sure quite how I'm going to make it work but I'm determined not to throw anything away.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, today it's my half day although there's a team meeting at the end of my shift which will over run so I'm likely to be late which I'm not happy about..
Keep safe and well x

Good morning☺,
Couldn't sleep so up early, going to make some chocolate muffins in a minute, then have a shower.
When DH gets up we are going to continue out search for a car. Unfortunately we are looking at the wrong time, second hand cars are more expensive at the moment as dealers are having a problem getting new cars due to a shortage of chips, or at least that's what we've been told. But my little car has been in the garage 3 times already and is still not right so I think it's time for her to go
It seems very wet outside🌧 so I don't think I'll be gardening again today, I found some bluebell bulbs my sister had given me so want to get them planted up.
Have a good day 🌻x11 -
Morning All
Very blustery out but quite mild, it was warmer outside than in when I got home from work yesterday. I'm still just lighting the fire, being very frugal with the heating!
Happy car hunting Sunflow3r, can't say it's something I enjoy, there are too many out there.
Lovely gnomes florence, you're very talented.
Have you heard anything from your work Ruby?
Plodding along here, house reasonably clean and tidy and the washing fairly up to date, a white wash was done last night and it's hanging on the pulley, if I was home today I would hang it out for a while as it's so blowy.
Thinking of the poorlies and those missing from here, take care. XX10 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Windy here, and as Camelot says it's warmer outside than in the house.Visiting a friend this morning, she wants me to pick up some Christmas presents as she's got them all wrapped and ready. She's frighteningly well organised, and also has her cards written, stamped and ready to post! That's all for today, nothing else arranged.Thinking of our poorly people and hoping everyone has a good day, take care folks.11

Morning folks.Yesterday was such a dismal day, it didn't really get light and the rain only dried up at teatime. I did my two washing loads anyway and got it all dry. That was the sum of my achievements!
Today I'm meant to be talking through ideas for the front garden with a neighbour. I have thoughts of a couple of raised beds and a wee greenhouse, perhaps. The land is a fenced off piece of a huge field which is always soggy, rushes would take over if left.I'd so like to have some more sleep, I'll close my eyes again now.Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Morning all
Seems quite mild here and no rain due which is good as we have halloween events for the rest of the week at work, I am outside in a kiosk today taking entrance money but its heated so should not be too bad. Camelot I heard yesterday that I have an interview next Tues for the support job, I hope I get it as I need to bring some money in and it will do for now money wise.
DD made a maccoroni cheese last night so its all ready in the fridge to shove in the oven later on we will have some salad with it so a nice and quick meal.
DW to empty before work and I will put a wash on.
Nels is doing ok bless her she said she would help me to prepare for my interview next week so I have an expert on side
Have good days all and take care xxx

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I don't know what had been going on through the night but I woke up to find my bedroom clock had put itself back an hour - 4 days early!!!! Thats never happened before!
We have another mild day in store with temps up to 18 deg. and no wind or rain.
Today is earmarked for some batch cooking. Lentil soup is already on the go and mince is out to make Chilli and then Bolognese, to be frozen in portions in freezer pouches. As the freezers are both rammed I don't know how I think I am going to get them in! Some juggling around to be done methinks.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all xx

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Today is a sad day for us, our very good neighbour and friend is moving into sheltered accomodation in the town. She and her late husband were the first to welcome us to the close when we were sneaking looks at the bungalow. Since her husband passed away we have been looking out for her, shopping etc and making sure this last couple of years that she is safe in the house. The end of an era.
We will still visit her in her new abode. Its her birthday on Monday so we are going in to see her then. See how she has settled in. I know there have been times when she has felt very alone, so she will at least have company.
Dullish morning, a bit windy, no sign of any sun.
I cut out the book pillow and also embroidered the pocket. waiting for the cushion to come, ordered it from Dunelm. When thats done I need to look out Christmas fabric for a runner.
Bread to make and also something for supper, will have to do a freezer dive and see what I can find.9 -

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Today would have been my dad's birthday, I shall light a candle later.
I like the snowmen Florenceem, I'm making gnomes as I don't have any white shops.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.11 -

Morning folks, another wet day here, it's that mizzling stuff though and nothing heavy. I couldn't get to sleep last night, nothing new there, but then had a lie in and I've not long got up. I'm sat in my dressing gown nursing a cup of tea and been watching the antics of a squirrel on the patio 😀. Not a lot needs doing today except clean down the kitchen and empty the dw, which I put on late last night and cba to empty it when it finished. The drive man rang yesterday and we have a provisional date for him to start, a week next Monday depending on the weather, but that's fine with us. Now we have more time to remove the last of the chippings as today looks like another wash out for gardening 🙁 Mr Fix It dithered and changed the plans so much that it would have been done and dusted if he'd just let the drive man get on with it. Think he's turned into me as I can never make up my mind lately, even deciding what to order in a restaurant takes me ages !I did find some jigsaws that I fancy but I can't make up my mind which to order, so I'll have another look later and hopefully decide. Then I'll watch the budget because I'm ringing Dad tonight and he will want to rant about it, so I need to know what he's talking about 😂 If I feel energetic I'll have a freezer sort out as I'm back to freezer dipping for tea everyday. Why can't I get myself organised ?Right enough waffling from meFlorenceem lovely makes.RedRuby fingers crossed for next weeks interview, good that you have Nels to help you too.Scarlett blimey your friend is really organised. This is the time when I always make my xmas cakes but I haven't even bought any dried fruit this year.Sunfl0w3r good luck with the car hunting.Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
