Am I justified in how I feel towards my employer requesting I travel to the office?

Have you raise any of the concerns voiced in the first post with your employer?  If not, why not, and if you have, what has been the response?
To be completely honest, I’ve yet to do this as the way I see it, I’m new to the role and regardless of the fact that I was told to wait to receive information on salary etc after I accepted the job (foolishly), there’s a worry that I’ll be viewed as troublesome and a fear that it’d impact my position.

When the salary was confirmed, it was then that I was surprised it wasn’t what I was expecting, especially as this team is of higher standing and the office itself is located in a much more affluent area,
If there's now a hybrid model of partly working from home. Then the employer will have factored this into payscales for new starters, i.e. reduced basic pay.  As it's the employee that chooses to where to live in relation to their office base. Living a considerable distance away needs to be a consideration when applying for jobs in this new WFH era. As commuting costs are only going to rise.

Did you accept the job by signing a contract, or just verbally?

What did the contract say regarding salary and where you're based?
  • Best thing to do is look for a new job. There are plenty available. Don't be afraid to ask for a lot more money either, they can only say no. Especially right now big increases can be had.

Rather than raise it with the employer first? Bit bizarre

That was the only bizarre thing you took from that post?

With no knowledge of even what the OP does, what industry they are in or anything else, there are "big increases" to be had? So you can "ask for a lot more money"? Unless you are a truck driver, I don't know too many industries offering big increases. And I'm not even sure they are in that much demand. There's plenty of industries right now where you are lucky to still have a job. And many of the high demand industries are high demand because the wages and conditions are **** and there's no Eastern Europeans left to do the work!
