You know the website is down and now have an explanation in as much detail as you're likely to get, even though you choose not to believe what Moneyfacts are saying because of the channel via which they've posted the update. There's nothing wrong with a bit of healthy scepticism about content on social media sites but it does beg the question of exactly what you're expecting to find - the Tesco outage was a story because of its profile and its direct impact on people living real life, but a site publishing read-only info about savings rates and the like is hardly going to be front page news....Deleted_User said:Daliah said:Posted 3 hours ago on their Facebook page
Nothing about the outage on their Twitter. Thanks for that, but I regret I am uncomfortable with both Facebook & Twitter due the the vast amount of fake information that is published on those kind of sites. Further, both the https://saversfriend.co.uk/ as well as https://www.moneyfactsgroup.co.uk/ sites cause a security warning to be issued so I stay clear of them also.Over the weekend I was aware from news media that Tesco was experiencing problems, but nowhere on any reliable site could I locate any news about Moneyfacts. The site looks to be still down now.4 -
Yes, the link I posted does throw up a warning but rather than just a blanket "I'm not going there" did anyone actually read what the warning says and why it's occurred?
It's a configuration issue, probably by the server host as it's their internal, self certified certificate that would not normally be seen by the outside world, that's throwing the error.
Once past the error the page I showed is perfectly valid.

Companies don’t like to publicise their failings. They prefer to ignore them and hope people forget.Deleted_User said:
Yes, I noticed earlier this morning is was back up. I'm surprised there seems to be no information available about the reason for the very long down time.kaMelo said:Moneyfacts site is back up, saversfriend is still down.0 -
There is no need to be so adversarial.Deleted_User said:
As you seem to know all about Moneyfacts' "failings" that caused this lengthy downtime of their website, please give me the details.RG2015 said:

In my experience, companies that have problems, such as website failings, do not give an account of what went wrong.
Your suggestion that I seem to know all about "Moneyfacts failings" is quite bizarre, as my post in no way alludes to any knowledge about Moneyfacts.
I was simply suggesting that it is highly unlikely that there will be any reason given for the website downtime.10
