electric corsa charging problems

Options
has anyone else had problems with their electric corsa not charging . the car has been to two different vauxhall dealerships and another two dealerships in my area refusing too look at it and they still haven t resolved the problem. A month later it has gone to a third dealershipto see if they can fix it . In the meantime i have been given a hybrid hire car which i had to fight for as they dont do electric courtesy cars. so much for trying to go greener, vauxhall are happy to sell you a car but they can t fix them if they have a fault. Any help or advice would be appreciated

How old is the car and how long have you owned it?  After two Vauxhall dealerships failing to resolve, or apparently take much interest in, your problem I would be escalating it to the top.  Paul.Willcox@vauxhall.co.uk  seems to be the current CEO.  When I had problems with disinterest in a problem I had with a new car, an e-mail to the CEO of another company received a phone call within 48 hours and very attentive staff at the dealership from that day on.

What exactly is happening in terms of not charging?  Is this a public charger? Home charger? Home granny charger?
  • I suggest you go to the SpeakEV forum where there is a lot of specific experience and expertise of all sorts of different EVs.

There are so many different factors that it's impossible to offer advice without detailed information and some tests.

It could be as simple as the cable not properly locking into place. Sometimes something gets lodged and blocks the locking pin. Or perhaps the cable was pulled while locked in place and it has damaged the mechanism. Otherwise a component might have failed.

So you’ve got a ‘proper’ home charger and it doesn’t charge and you’ve tried a granny charger cable and the same? This would point to the AC on-board charger (OBC) being at fault, so it’s down to the dealer I’m afraid. A supposedly common fix for similar issues is to disconnect the 12V battery system for a short period (hour or so) Quite why, I have no idea as I can’t remember the last time I had to do that on an ICE vehicle.
