I batch cook and freeze in portions. My usual meals are:
    - Spag Bol Sauce
    - Chilli
    - Curry
    - Mince ( for mince & tatties or cottage pie)
    - stew
    - casserole
    - soups

it is like having my own takeaways and I only need to cook rice, pasta or potatoes each day during the week. I try to do a different one each week so that the freezer is always well stocked.

Getting back to basics: Lidl sells cans of chopped tomatoes, W,  Arrabiatta, Basil, Herbs, and Garlic n Onion, can save a lot of time, Plus don’t take up any fridge/freezer space.

If you do go to Iceland to look at the SW ready meals make sure you've got your phone with you and you can photograph the recipe which is on the outside of most of the packs!  Home made will probably taste a lot nicer than the ready meal version.  My favourite one of the ready meals is the braised steak with root veg mash so braised steak would be a good one to make and freeze in portions.

Others have already suggested making swede and carrot mash and normal mash in bulk to freeze.

I'd suggest just cooking the meals you normally do but make enough for , say, 4 portions and freeze 3 portions.  Over a fairly short period of time you'll have a freezer full of HM ready meals!
