How Do I Find Out Why a Company Was Dissolved?

I used to work for a company (NOP MARKET RESEARCHES LIMITED) that I discovered was dissolved in 2010. I have never done this kind of research before, but wondered if there was any way to find out what happened, why it was dissolved, if it was taken over by another company and then dissolved. I have to be honest, working there was very unpleasant, and I've blocked a lot of what happened there out. But I did have one or two friends there and would love to know what happened. It also makes putting that job on my CV a bit awkward even though it was quite a while ago. I haven't worked much since then (mostly due to what happened there) so it is still a relevant part of my CV, unfortunately.
Any googling I try to do, the most that comes up is a brief companies house listing that states the company was dissolved. I can't find out any more details. Possibly not using the right search terms or looking for the right things. It was a big Market Research company, moved to Blackfriars house, so its hard to see how it could just disappear.
I'd especially like to do it because its time to fill in some memory gaps, starting with what happened to the company (I am receiving some very good counselling so I suppose this is why I am looking into this). I understand this is an unusual request, possibly not suited to MSE so if anyone has suggestions as to a better forum to post this kind of thing, I'd be very grateful. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue where to go next.

It was taken over or acquired by GfK, a German company. Who were themselves acquired by Ipsos.
As for your CV, you put who employed you then, not what the company may have now become. Many people have previous employers who don't exist any more.
PS it was easy to find the information on Google!4 -
Only juicy thing on Companies House is that they sacked a director called Paul Kelly in 2008. The company was dissolved by means of a voluntary strike off, self-immolation in other words.1

Your CV just includes who you worked for and when and what role / duties you had.deannagone said:I used to work for a company (NOP MARKET RESEARCHES LIMITED) that I discovered was dissolved in 2010.

There are very few people beyond a certain age that do not have past employers that are no longer existing, so nothing to worry about there.0 -

C&A - left the UK decades ago
Accountancy partnership - dissolved
US software company - went when the dotcom bubble burst
FTSE 100 - top 20 company no longer exists after takeover0 -

I am normally quite good at finding things on google but do not normally do this kind of search. Would you please be very kind and tell me what search phrases you used, I must have been using ones that didn't help. It might be obvious to you, but obviously not to me lolol and I'd like to learn.0 -
You know that phrase police use about following the money? I used a variation of that and followed the address! The chances of three market research companies consecutively occupying the same address one after another is slim. Then I just googled the companies and found articles about them having acquired the previous company. Easy if you are used to research.deannagone said:
