Job seeekers allowance refusal

My partner was recently refused JSA following over 10 years employment. having taken a sabbatical for a year, returned to work for several months and then resigned due to discrimination. She is happy to pay NI contributions for sabbatical but these don't count towards JSA claims. Is there a way to appeal this?

Even if she had full NI contributions would she be allowed to claim if she left her job?

Is the discrimination a protected characteristic, did she just resign or is it via acas and an ET?

There is nothing to appeal, she's either paid and/or had credited the Class 1 contributions or she hasn't, she can make a credits only claim which will count towards her state pension entitlement.

Sorry,  but if she isn't eligible because she didn't pay enough contributions in the relevant years,  then I'm afraid those are the rules. For everyone.  The only grounds for an appeal would be an error in applying the rules,  and there hasn't been one.

Having been in employment for x number of years has no bearing on entitlement to contribution based benefits.  That entitlement is based purely on the two most recent complete qualifying years.
