Difficulty getting ERC back

Has anybody else been in circles when it comes to getting an ERC returned? I had to break the chain but met the porting agreement and continued with my purchase, as per the original mortgage offer. Nationwide confirmed the ERCs would be returned when I completed on my purchase. I have met all requirements.
I have spoken to no fewer than 12 Nationwide members of staff who have all confirmed the ERCs will be repaid. Some claimed it would be directly returned if I didn't cancel the direct debit, others claimed it would go to my solicitor via cheque.
I didn't cancel the direct debit. Nationwide did. They then claim they sent the cheque but my solicitor has received absolutely nothing at all. This was supposedly 3 weeks ago.
I am going around in circles with them and we are talking about several thousands of pounds, not an insignificant amount and money I urgently require to be returned.
Has anybody else experienced this hassle and how did you resolve?

Did you use thr same solicitor for sale and purchase?
It should go to the solicitors who redeemed the mortgage1 -
From Nationwide criteria;-
"Following the completion of the new mortgage, any ERCs which are due to be returned will be refunded to the solicitor(s) who redeemed the original mortgage."

Thank you both. I'll try getting some progress tomorrow. Nationwide are saying they sent a cheque, and my solicitor spent last night (on a Saturday) searching to no avail, and is adamant she didn't receive anything.
I'll keep persevering. I want to remortgage once my first payment has gone through and I've dropped to 1% ERCs but need it back first

How can you look for a cheque on a Saturday night? Does she live at the office? I would have expected it to be paid by bank transfer... If it IS a cheque someone's going to have to pay it into an account somewhere, then wait for it to clear.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

She went to the office to look. I know my solicitor well and I know she is telling the truth. I expected it to be paid via bank transfer too, but even Nationwide themselves are saying "we sent a cheque in the post to your solicitor" which seems a little archaic.
It's a huge amount of money so I am feeling at a complete loss as to what to do.0 -
