O/S Daily Saturday 16 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry at the moment, temperature has dropped, heating is on at the moment but I'll turn it off in a bit.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 happy and settled.
Dinner last night was breaded cihicken steaks, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight will be all day breakfast.
Yesterday was ok and the jobs got done by the plumber, and I did get chance to do some wash loads after he'd finished so not too far behind with the washing. Will get more done today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks.I've been lying in bed watching the sun rise, the sky was in bands of both pale pink and pale blue which are now fading to grey.Yesterday my gardener came after missing Monday. She cut the back lawn for me, her petrol mower dealt with the long wet grass better than mine would have. After her work the back garden looks much neater, I'm really pleased to have found her.In the morning I vacuumed the wood burner, set a new fire and brought in three big blue bags of logs from the front barn. I'm using wood which has been in the barn for probably four years at least so it burns very quickly but I'm not wasting it. The bolognaise sauce was made though it turned more into a chilli based one (without kidney beans) and I used up some wonky veg.The temperature didn't rise above 7 degrees yesterday though the day was so glorious, looking at outside from inside there was clear bright blue skies and even some sunshine but extremely chilly. As for today, who knows. I have a few tasks which I keep putting off which may attract my attention 😀 right now I'm enjoying watching the birds perched on my telephone wire outside my bedroom window. I think they are picking off insects on the stone wall.Happy Saturday to everyone, keep warm.10

Morning all
Dry here for the time being but the sky looks very black out there so I think we will get rain later. I have a towel load on a boil wash so that will have to go on the airer if we light the fire later or if not in the td. I love having a fire going in the evening but its still fairly mild and we sit here getting hotter and hotter so we are only lighting it atm when we are really chilly.
Curry for dinner tonight which OH will make he makes a really good one and he does bombay potatoes as well which are lovely, it also gives me a night off of cooking as I tend to do it during the week as I get in first.
We need to have a clean through today, I will do downstairs and OH will do up, dd was at her young mans last night with big pup so they may appear at some point today or may stay another night.
Spoke to Nels yesterday and she seems a bit brighter she was eating more which is a good sign, hopefully the norovirus is on the way out.
The rain has just startedso I may have a snuggly day indoors and do a bit of cooking for next weeks dinners.
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Good day yesterday, we had a pub lunch courtesy of Steve's brother, fish and chips, I had a small portion it was delicious. We caught up with news on his family and on the properties he's building. The first block of 8 apartments are finished and either sold or SSTC. There are six either side that that have just been started. He was aiming at the first time buyer market but has found that they are being purchased by people downsizing some of whom have suggested more storage space would be useful. So the next properties are being built with that in mind. We will receive the return on our investment within the next few weeks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.8 -
Afternoon, hugs if you need one. Almost unpacked from our few days away, washing done and dried.
Its a sunny but chilly day, have the heating on quite low, jumper on did not quite cut it.
Off to the farmers market this morning for some fruit and veg, lovely big cauli for £1.50. Also got a melon and some strawberries, not imported but grown in poly tunnels.
I have cooked the kilo of mince we got a week ago, made enough for 5 meals, will have mince and tatties tonight with cabbage, carrots are in the mince. Also an apple and blackberry crumble in the combi, using up some fallers from the apple tree. I have 3 very large tomato's ripening in with the fruit as well.
Decent nights sleep. We found the duvet in our accommodation was quite a heavy tog, we are used to a much lighter one, so no waking up and chucking the duvet off last night.

Hello, late one from me.
Walked over 11 miles yesterday so have taken the day off todayI've done some baking instead as family are up visiting my Mother.
I've done 3 loads of washing, 2 have dried on the line and the 3rd load, towels are out now. My theory is that once they're on the line they'll dry eventually
Looking forward to Strictly tonight although with 2 less couplesthen MOTD later.
Have a good day x8
