We have booked to see Prince of Egypt at the Dominium and arrive by train at Kings Cross. I know the underground has lots of steps which my wife will not be able to manage but she is OK with an escalator. So what is the best way for us to get to and from the theatre, do these stations have stairs? Perhaps book a Uber? We have never done this so do we need to open an account for just this?

Does this Step-free Tube Guide help?2

There is this, but I probably wouldn’t rely on it if you’re tight for time.

uber has a price estimator on its website which you can schedule for the time you’ll need it, which might be worth a look at.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

For speed. Out of the station, turn right, black cab rank.
As an alternative if walking isn't an issue take a bus. Number 73 or 390 from outside the station will take you to Tottenham Court Road close to the theatre.1 -
Thanks all, any idea how much a taxi will be? I looked at uber and it is just under £6 so we may use that.
I still can't see if the underground has escalators or steps though.0 -

There is a lot of information there. Read it.1 -
Yes I looked but might have missed it. All I can see is the height of the biggest step and the gap between platform and train. I really would like to know how many steps to get to the platform, as I said my DW can manage a few but not the long staircases that seem to spring from nowhere on the underground.
Anyway, thanks for helping, I think we will be going by Taxi or bus thanks to daveyjp for this advice.0 -
There are lifts and escalators at Kings Cross but to be honest pop yourselves in a cab, the underground area is absolutley massive and the amount of walking about can take a while. Taxis take debit/credit cards and for me would be a no-brainer with someone of limited mobility.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:1

All central London tube stations have escalators or lifts for the main descents, but many will also have short flights of additional steps. You'll have to make one change as well between KX and TCR, there's no direct route, but both KX and TCR offer step-free access (i.e. lifts) to platform level from the street. Buses are your cheapest option; direct links, card payment only, no cash. Or just use a black cab, or Uber. For the latter, yes, you just need to set up the app on your phone for an account.
