O/S Daily Friday 15 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry at the moment, temperature has dropped, heating is on at the moment but I'll turn it off in a bit.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO gammon, hot new potatoes, salad etc - was nice change and the gammon was delicious, it was a joint and I've still got some left, so we'll use that up today and tomorrow. Not sure what we'll be having for dinner tonight, I have plumber coming today to fit a new electric shower and bathroom taps - he should have done the work several weeks ago but had to postpone so hoping it all goes ahead as it should today. At some point I need to do a food shop, so will do that when I can.
I have a wash load in at the moment so I don't get a back log of washing - as I imagine plumber will need water either to be switched off or at least not in use whilst he's working.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad - it was quite a quiet day, but I had to stay until a bit later and the traffic was so much worse but from next week that will be my finish time, so I have to get on with it.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Not quite as cold here this morning although the heating has clicked on. Off to work for me but I think I will finish at lunh time as I am completly shattered so will come home and have a rest for the afternoon.
I think I will do something with chips for dinner maybe egg abd bacon but will decide later, the dw needs emptying this morning and the breakfast things putting in, I will also put awash on before I go to work.
Gers I am glad the sale of the flat went ahead, im sure its bought up all sorts of emotions though so take care of yourself xxx
Nanny I hope you feel better soon xx
I spoke with Nels yesterday she seemed a tiny bit brighter but still like a washed out dish rag bless her, xxx
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Bloomin' 'eck it was dark and cold when the Sparkly Cat nudged me out of bed for her breakfast this morning. The heating was straight on and it's now feeling nice and cosy.
Friday Tidy today but got my usual head start by cleaning the bathroom and kitchen yesterday. So just a dust and vac up and down and all around. Maybe another window will get cleaned too. Hopefully after lunch it will be feet up reading under my heated throw. I fancy smoked haddock (with a compulsory poached egg on top) for my tea so will get a piece out to defrost shortly. I have some lovely little potatoes which will go nicely with it and maybe a bit of salad.
NANNY I hope the painful teeth and gums settle down quick smart, PREPAREDATHOME belated anniversary wishes for yesterday. GERS it was good to hear all is now finalised with DM's affairs and you can now relax in your own little home again. It's lovely that you have some friendly neighbours dropping in for a dram or two as well. I hope NELS continues to improve, the poor love. ((HUGS)) for our other poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning folks. Thanks Ruby 🌺 and for news of Nelski too. When I went to the loo at about 5am the sky was full of twinkling stars, no clouds just the heavens showing off, it was so fabulous to see again. It was such a treat after so long in a big city, I stood and looked for ages until I began to feel the chill and went back under my duvet.Yesterday I lit the stove late in the morning to warm me through. The wind was so high that even with very little air going in the wood burned brightly with lots of flames. It's really comforting. This morning I'll have my usual Friday morning chat with my SIL in Qld and my friend in Vic. After that I don't have plans though I may make some bolognaise sauce to freeze.Keep warm everyone, happy Friday to all.10

Morning All
The family have gone home, it was a good time but very busy and I've not been feeling too good, got a cold and a cough, still testing negative so must just be another virus doing the rounds. Sleep seems to be a bit elusive at the moment but I'm sure that will remedy itself.
The garden has had a good tidy for winter, DS1 cut the front hedge for me and I got the grass cut yesterday, hopefully for the last time. Washing dried in record time yesterday with a strong wind but sadly there was heavy rain in the afternoon. Felt good to have all the windows open and give the house a good airing having had so many bodies in it all week.
I'm off for a murder mystery night with a friend today, could really do without it but I'm quite looking forward to a night away. Quite a long drive but the weather is glorious this morning so the views should be stunning.
Good luck with the job application RR, send my love to Nels when you next speak to her.
Mixed emotions for you Gers but glad the flat sale has completed.
Hope you feel better today Nanny.
Have fun with your new puppy Izzy!
I have a huge pile of washing to get through, shame I'm away today as it would probably dry outside but I can hang some on the pulley while I'm away, might also put some on the airer in the kitchen.
Have a happy Friday, take care. XX9 -

Morning! Still alive! Cold though eh? Heating is on for an hour to take the chill off, I didn't even hear OH get up and go out, I was zonked out. I have no major plans today, I was supposed to be having a booster shot but that was cancelled and moved to Sunday so I suppose I could go through the wadrobe again and look for things to get rid of. I made a space for OHs little men books on the bookcase last night, he's only recently been leaving them downstairs, they are his preciousssss, so they'd better have a safe place to live away from cats claws...Supper is sorted, I brought lasagne back with me, I made it, my sister made the sugo, it is not as nice as hers was the other week. Still nice though...I bought myself some very expensive sheepskin slippers, boy are they comfy and warm. Worth it but I'd have been happier if they had been cheaper of course. Which means it's time for the final shoe swap of the year, there's no more time for sandals, it's time for boots. This is a novelty for me For years I only had three pairs of shoes. I am now Imelda Marcos of boots. And it's time for the two pairs I singled out to go on ebay. It's cold enough for people to think of buying boots now.Nelski, hope they are helping, it's no fun being stuck in hospital. Nanny, hope your gob is getting better, sounds also notvery much fun. Gers, it's a relief when things are finalised isn't it, but also a grief, for the reason. Take care of yourself for a bit, after so long looking after your mum you are probably going to be at a loss for a while. Camelot, enjoy your murder mystery! I've done a few with friends and they've always been a complete laugh. Bella, finally getting the windows done, woop woop! If only in the roof! but hey! halfway there!
dumpling, hope the can shows up something good.. Ruby, good news about applying for the job, lets hope you get it. Prepareathome,Happy Anniversary! [ Belated, oops!]. I send you fairy unicorn dust or something if you're poorly or pee'd off, and also big fuzzy blankets...

Back home after a bad journey back, very heavy traffic, a drive that would usually have taken us 2 and a bit hours took 4!! Exhausted when I got back, there were some examples of really bad driving.
We enjoyed the break, a change not having to cook meals. We found some decent places to eat, not too expensive.
Washer is on, there is a breeze so they may well dry on the line.
Gers, please to hear that your Mums flat has been handed over. You will be able to relax a bit now.
Have just had a tremendous job try and make appointments for our booster jab. We are going to have to travel to get it, nothing local. Db has an appointment for his flu jab.
No idea whats for supper, might be a ding supper.6
