Orphaned Children and Pension Death Benefit

I feel for you in this - This issue was one of those that pushed me into transferring my DB pension. On the one side after transfer and my early passing my child would get ~500k tax free. If I didn't transfer she would be lucky to get 5k! I had no reason to consider my death a high probability, but it was such a huge difference it grated anyway.
I hope the Trustees have some discretion and can be prevailed on to help or failing that the IFAs insurance can make some redress..1 -
Well this was a long time in coming, but we finally got there.
The Trustees did eventually agree to pay the sum which was originally offered to my brother, which was far more than we had ever hoped for. We can now move on with our lives and hope to build a better life for my nieces.
Just goes to show that for the price of a stamp, lots of emails and and a whole lot of patience and hope there are good people out there.
Here's to a better 2023 for everyone.12 -

Indeed! And the very best of good fortune to you and the children.
