DBS Check

My future employer has asked for a current basic DBS check even though I have a 6 month old enhanced DBS check

It is holding up the job offer and they suggest using UCHECK. I noticed they claim a dbs check within 48hrs if you pay them a £20 fee on top of the £23 DBS fee while the gov.uk application can take 5-10 days

Is this correct. Can companies really short circuit the time taken ?

I suspect you'd get a priority service at the 'submitting the information for the checks' stage, rather than short circuiting the time taken at the checking stage. so rather than being added to the bottom of a pile of forms to be submitted, you'd be dealt with faster. Bit like the express security lane at the airport, or speedy boarding on a plane ...

I don't see how anyone can guarantee returning it within 48 hours, because if you've moved around there are going to be multiple police checks needed.

Although I don't know what is involved in the basic check, have only ever had enhanced myself.

If an employer requires a basic DBS check, they probably shouldn't be seeing an enhanced one.

However, do you know this employer?  Have you met them at their premises?
