Options
Went into my local Sainsburys this am,got a couple of things and was going to get a 250gram pack of butter. Their own brand Dairy Manor or something has been in recent months or longer circa 50 odd p (more or less same as Lidles). Anyway,it was marked at £ 1.50 aprox. thats up a quid !!!!! Checked Iceland, ditto. Will check Lidl in next few days .

Sainsbury's website is only showing one own-label butter at £1.48 price matched to Aldi.
Sainsbury's British Butter, Salted 250g | Sainsbury's (sainsburys.co.uk)
There is no "value/basics" brand of butter at Sainsbury's now. Think there used to be when the Basics branding was still used, but they have decided to just stick with Sainsbury's now. Makes some sense as there is probably not a big quality difference.
Dairy Manor is a Lidl brand.
A quick search online seems to indicate own-brand butter is £1.48 everywhere, although Aldi have an essential one at £1.45.
No idea where you used to find butter at 50p!1 -

Whoops !!!!!!!!!!! I dont make many posts on here,my previous post, may have been "A Post too Far " Just checked one of my old Lidl receipts £1.48 So the girl I spoke to in Sainsburys, is probably telling her collegues during her lunch break, about the nutter who was complaining about the price of Butter . At least I got one thing right, the price is the same more or less in either shop. I'll have to put me dark glasses and false beard on next visit to Sainsburys........5

Was going to say, you'd not have got butter for 50p.
The cheapest for quite a while has been farmfoods if you have one at £1 for 227g packs, which make it £1.10 for an equivalent 250g size.0
