At least I understand it a lot more now and I agree with comments re leave pension where is for now until age 60 (only 4 years).

I was looking at it for the larger transfer value and resultant £40K lump sum but if I leave until age 60 i'll get 3/4 of that anyway as a lump sum plus a better pension without the worry of transferring out and investments not performing.

Much more complex than I originally thought!

Yes, that is the reason for the advice requirement.  DB pensions can be very complex and if someone misunderstands something they could easily make decisions that cost them £thousands per year with no opportunity to undo their mistake.
