O/S Daily Tuesday 12 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry at the moment.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/rice, veg, not sure what we'll be having tonight possibly pork steaks with the roast LO's.
Yesterday work was ok, busy at times and some tech issues. This morning I'm on a training course from all morning so that will be a change but not sure how the remaining staff are expected to cope as there's not many left - we'll evidently get the throw back this afternoon once we're all back doing the jobs we sould be doing!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Seems very chilly here this morning I had set the heating to come on this morning but something went wrong and it didnt come onI have manually put it on now but I will have to have a look at it later to see whats going on.
Back to work for me today and I meet my new temporary boss who was off last week so I hope I get on ok with him ! There was an internal job advertised which I want to go for so I have asked if I can apply while I am on phased return hopefully they will reply today and then I can get an application form in.
Pork casserole for dinner tonight its all made and in the fridge so I will just put it in a low oven when I get home we will have some crusty bread with it.
I spoke with Nels yesterday she has a new physio who is working her hard which is good and hopefully means she will get home quicker, she also now has a tv which is helping with the boredom a bit.
Right I had better get on have good days all xxx13 -
Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, hope you enjoy your training morning.Yesterday was very chilly with outbursts of sunshine now and then. The gardener didn't come and the cleaner did. I faffed about trying to get the new blinds to work over Wi-Fi and then realised that the installer hadn't fitted the necessary unit so had a conversation with him about it. He'll be back! 😆
An elderly neighbour called in for a chat about the NE of England. He wanted to visit some Roman remains and asked about Housesteads. He didn't realise that there was a good half mile steep climb up to the fort and wall, once he did it's off his list. I pointed him to Vindolanda and Chester's instead. We had a nice chat over a wee dram, always welcome on a late autumn afternoon. This morning I'll be a bit anxious until the boiler service has been done at my late DM's flat. The upstairs neighbour is letting the gas engineer in, I don't like not being there to 'make sure' it all happens but sitting in my car waiting for the engineer to turn up wasn't going to be a good idea. And the neighbour is very reliable. I'll still be worrying, can't help it.As for today, I don't know yet. I'll do a little vacuuming as I prefer the cleaner to spend her one hour a fortnight making sure the bathroom and kitchen are done, particularly the shower glass and the floors. A light dusting may also take place and the bed linen could do with changing. How much of this actually takes places is to be seen.My thoughts are still with our missing and poorlies. Happy Tuesday to everyone.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. That's better news on NELS Ruby, I hope the physiotherapy helps and she can then join us again. (And fingers crossed for you that you can apply for the vacant position)
It feels less cold here this morning but, nonetheless, I have put the heating on for a little while just in case! The forecast is for a dry day but sadly not much sun.
I managed to clean a couple more windows yesterday. By the time I get to the end of them it will time to start them all over again! My right arm objects strongly to cleaning windows so I can't whizz round them one after the other like I used to.
Tuesday again so that means it's my coffee morning then lunch meet with oldest buddy today. It's her birthday before next week's meet so I have put her pressie in front of the door so that I don't forget to pick it up! But why didn't I buy something lighter for transporting on the bus?!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Good morning
Quite chilly but dry this morning, haven't put the heating on though. I'm trying not to use it as much until Octopus tell me how much I am going to have to pay
Going to sort some paperwork this morning then walk over to deliver my niece's birthday present, she's 18 tomorrow, where has the time gone
I'm not sure if 2 sides of the shed will need a third coat of paint, they get the most weather, will have a good look later and paint them if necessary.
Have a good day x11 -
Morning all, murky day here- not sure if it's low mist or fine drizzle. Either way DDog was very reluctant to walk this morning, kept stopping to listen to scary noisesRR good to hear about Nels, thanks & hope you can apply for the job.I think I'll have a trip on the bus to Chorley market this morning so I'd better eat something & get ready. Hope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10

Morning all, I was up at stupid o'clock but took a cuppa back to bed and fell asleep.I had a lovely day yesterday as I went rampaging round the shops and spent rather a lot of money !! I needed a lot of new stuff including slippers and an extra pair of fleece pj's, the latter are a baby pink and very, very long in the leg so I will have to alter them. Mr Fix It complimented me(?) and said I looked like a fluffy Peppa Pig ! 😱 We also met his cousin and her DH sitting outside a coffee shop so we spent rather a lot of time gassing as we haven't seen each other since the first lockdown.Today it's a lovely sunny day and the wind is blowing so a load of washing has been put out. I want to clean down the kitchen, the cooker tops, bleach the sink and clean the halogen oven. Later this afternoon I have another dentist appointment and then I will ring Dad tonight to chew the fat. I must put the paint away too, it took ages to dry and I've decided that it doesn't need another coat.RedRuby hope the job application goes your way.Nelski hugsbellabella glad you had a lovely blessing, I'd have had a meltdown too.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xx
