We've just added our debt up and it totals £35k, we've spent £1k on Xmas this year, and when I suggest not buying for people, I'm sneered at and told in no uncertain terms that i'm a grumpy old man!!!
I wouldn;t mind but most of the time I or the wife have no idea what to buy these people so we spend money on rubbish.
New Year, New Me.
We are putting a plan in place to reduce the debt, and save for all special occassions from now on.
Too many years of spending without thought has led to unmangeable debt and an expectation among friends/family that we can always afford to go out/dress well/afford latest gadgets/drive nice cars.
I think we have a serious life style change to make and 2008 might just be the time to start.
Wish us luck :-)
Happy Xmas,......:beer:Loan#1 : £9,908.81
Loan#2 : £13,867.22
CCard#1: £5,125.35
CCard#2: £5,384.36
Total Debt 18/12/07 - £34,285.74 _pale_
Target 04/08 = Reduce Debt by £2420

You seem to have had a light-bulb moment. Good luck with your plan. many others are in a similar position and need to tackle the problem.
Ignore any comments others may make about you being grumpy, scrooge and so on. Stick to your plan.0
