O/S Daily Saturday 9 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry and warmer than it has been, today supposed to a warm 21 degrees. It was warm yesterday although not that sunny, I did get some washing line dried. I'll be hanging the bed linen out this morning that I changed from our bed yesterday.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying a brekkie bar and a cuppa whilst on here, will go for a shower shortly. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a bit disjointed, due to DH being late in, but menfolk both had pie, chips, peas and gravy. I had fish and veg. Tonight I have some chicken breasts was thinking of curry, but we'll see.
Yesterday was pretty productive, although my plans changed I did get done what I wanted and possibly over did it a bit as my back was aching so spent some time in the afternoon sitting down to give me back a rest. I now have the number of a osteopath so will be getting in touch as need to see if that helps.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Moving day today, one last shop before we leave. Were aiming to go through two locks and a swing bridge, about three miles. We'll moor up after lunch hopefully, it depends where we can find space.
Yesterday we bought new curtains and blinds finally, they are a nice duck egg blue. I shall shorten them tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.8 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for kicking us off. After 3 days of the return of summer today we are forecast cloud all day, though still very mild. I think temps are to plummet after today. Yesterday the towels and bath mats dried in record time in the warm sunshine, that's usually unheard of in October.
I did intend getting the early bus to town and then onwards to the next little town for a wander round but, really, there is nothing at all that I am in need of so I am staying put and will play more catch up on neglected jobs. Maybe this afternoon I will do a bit of roaming the 'net for inspiration for C presents.
TAFF enjoy your outing and GERS enjoy Bond. Plus I hope the implants went well. POPPY I hope the doctor can get to the root of the problem and make you feel better soon. It's a worry for you. Similarly NAN. We have a lot of illness on here these days and my thoughts are with all the poorlies (and poorly loved ones) ((HUGS)) for all i9n need of them. Take care one and all and enjoy your day if you can. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Morning folks.Glasgow is very mild and yesterday the rain dried up here. Dental implants have a slight problem, they were fitted very quickly but the two on the left were too high. Lots of tweaking got them to a comfortable height, however all that drilling left rough surfaces so they've gone back to the technicians to be properly smoothed and polished. So, I'll be back down on 22 Oct for the finished articles. I'm not upset, they cost a lot of money and I want them right. 😀
My solicitor is hoping to conclude the missives on DM's flat by Wednesday or Thursday next week. I've handed in the sheaf of legal papers so all that's off my plate. On Tuesday next week the combi boiler is having its first service, the upstairs neighbour is letting the engineers in and he'll take the final readings of the meters for me.I can smell the cooking of bacon so will head to the breakfast room shortly. Happy Saturday to all. 😀10 -
morning all,
NMLC, hope your back is feeling better by now, back ache is so debilitating.Hester, your new blinds and curtains sound nice, duck egg blue is one of my favourite colours.
TA, I need to start thinking about C gifts. I am cutting down this year as all my nieces and nephews are adults now, but I do have our elderly parents and a new great nephew I will buy for.Sorry, to have been absent, but I was getting worn out by ‘life’, and then my fibromyalgia kicks in hard and I have trouble thinking coherently and cannot recall words and structure a meaningful sentence. So apologies if my posts are all over the place.
plans for today are to chase pharmacy for mum’s meds.
dh, needs to try and find some petrol, there has been no availability in our village for a couple of weeks now.
I will be completing my food inventory and then menu planning and costing.
Also, will try and pop in and see mum and dad, either today or tomorrow.
Take care all.Sealed Pot Challenge # 003

Morning All
Shame your implants aren't right Gers but you're right, you need to have them fitting perfectly. It was dry here until half an hour ago but you may see rain on the way back home.
Sorry you're not feeling great Poppy, hope the doc can help.
If the rain is like here TA you'll be best staying in.
We've had rain for the past few but a brief respite yesterday afternoon, the sun even made a small appearance. I went shopping with DD and the little one after work, she was good fun but wants me to chase her up and down the aisles. She enjoys looking at everything (HB was a favourite) and doesn't get upset when asked to put things back and move on. Not so for a boy in the shop who was about 8 screaming that he wanted a drone, little one just stared at him!
Just off for my weekly loch swim, I have some wet suit socks now as my feet were painfully cold last week. Will do food shopping once I've warmed up and had a shower.
Have a good Saturday, take care. XX9 -

Hi everyone,
Peony, I'm sorry you have not been feeling well. Poppy, I hope the medics can help. Nels I hope things are improving and that the rest of the poorly people are as well as can be expected.
It's a quiet weekend in store for us, it's quite misty outside and I'm feeling the urge to go somewhere. Maybe I'll look for a garden to go to. Steve might play golf with Chris at some point, but apart from a bit of cleaning, cooking and sewing that is the sum total of our days.
Steve's spent the last few days compiling an inventory of the Yorkshire house because I thought that we might be a bit light on the contents insurance. He didn't agree but it turns out I was right, we needed to up it by nearly half. It makes me wonder just how much the contents are worth here as the Yorkshire house has a fraction of the things we have here. It makes we want to have a big clear out.
Anyway, have a good day all.

Morning, hugs if you need one.
We are treating today as Sunday, as we are off on our travels tomorrow, so brekkie in bed. Just up ready for action, we need to pull all but the last minute stuff in. Morrisons order came yesterday so have fruit to take with us. DB has done our chocolate mix, we have hot chocolate 4 nights a week, tea the other nights. I have put hangers in for trousers etc. We are having a 'ding supper' tonight.
Its a sunny morning and quite warm, I had put the heating set to come on first thing, had to put it off, too hot!!
Gardener came yesterday so more pots emptied, front garden looks a lot better, although now the plants in the back have been cut down, we can see a lot of spaces!!
I plan to put laundry in tonight and dry it in the dryer before we go tomorrow, so it will just be our night clothes in the bin when we get back.
Gers - hope all goes well with the missives for your Mums flat, and that your implants will be better the next time you go.5 -
