Credit card after DRO

My DRO ended at the beginning of this year, but I’m going to need a credit card towards the end of this year/early next year as I will need to go abroad and rent a car - so I simply need a credit card for car rental rather than actually using it for credit.
The problem is I had cards with Aqua and Vanquis that were cleared by my DRO - are there any other credit cards that accept customers with bad credit, or I’m I totally out of luck?

Hi, my DRO ended two years ago and about six months afterwards I successfully applied for an Ocean credit card with a limit of £1500. You may already be aware that Ocean is owned by Capital One and all went well until I wanted to apply for a 'proper' credit card and so I phoned and asked Capital One and to my surprise they allowed me to have another one. So I had two Capital One cards but then was able to transfer the (small) balance from the Ocean to the Capital One proper card as it had a lower interest rate.
I built up my creditworthiness from there and now I don't have any Capital One cards but I do have a Virgin Money credit card with a limit of £3,500 and it was 0% interest, which ends next year. I don't use all the credit available to me though. Since my DRO I've become far more savvy with money (at least I think so!). As far as I'm aware, Capital One doesn't have any dealings with either Vanquis or Aqua.
Obtaining credit has become a little more difficult of late but hopefully you will be able to get something. If it's just for hiring a car then you don't need a high limit. Good luck! Things will hopefully start to look up a bit for you now, they did for me anyway. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Well I’ve tried the eligibility checker on this site and each and every one says I have 0% chance of eligibility! 😳0

In the middle of my DRO one said that I was pre-approved for a Chrome credit card with a limit of £2K which was obviously b******s.Apply anyway, the worst thing that can happen is that you're declined. Just don't over do the applications.

I'm 9 months out of my DRO and I applied for an Ocean credit card through Clearscore eligibility checker and was accepted with a £200 limit
I only wanted £100 but £200 is the lowest but only use it to buy groceries pay it off in full each month
I was offered a Zopa one too, but decided against it
Might be worth checking out0
