NI credits

My sister has discovered she has effectively been working under a zero hours contract for some years and there have been no NI contributions over that period.
She now wants to retire but is short on her credits and therefore is facing a reduced pension.
There is the option for her to pay for the missing years. However, her employer has indicated that he is willing to help, but there doesn’t appear to be a way for him to pay backdated employer contributions. HMRC refer each party to the other without any detail as to what can be done.
is there any option besides paying for the missing years personally?

What level of earnings did your sister have. Being on a zero hors contract would not affect anything as far as I know the important thing is the earnings.0

If her employer has indicated willing to pay arrears why have NI contributions not been paid as a matter of course?
Report the employer formally, HMRC should be taking seriously.0 -
Has she checked her State Pension forecast on gov.uk?Mog123 said:My sister has discovered she has effectively been working under a zero hours contract for some years and there have been no NI contributions over that period.

Having a zero hours contract is totally irrelevant, it's what she earns and is then reported to HMRC through the Real Time Information (RTI) system that counts.0
