p60 question

Hi
hoping someone can help me out. I got made redundant during lockdown last year (august 2020) and they gave me a p45, but no p60 as I was not in their employment. I then became a mature student.
1. Should I have done something like a self assessment tax return to tell HMRC what tax I have paid (I should be due a fair bit back I would guess)
2. If yes, as I am now a year out, how can I fix this.

1. No (unless you had some other reason for needing to complete a tax return).
2. It shouldn't be necessary to do anything really as HMRC will review your records in the months after the end of the tax year.
First thing I would do is log onto your Personal Tax Account on gov.uk and check what it says about last tax year (2020:21).
If not yet reviewed then there may be an issue and worth contacting them via webchat to what the hold up is.
