O/S Daily Friday 1 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry but, temperature has really dropped. Rain forecast yet again and for the coming days.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was herbed chicken, with veg rice and pasta in a creamy tomato sauce. Tonight will be bbq beans and sausages.
I have the normal list of chores to do so will get them done after doing the food shopping first thing.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all, it's still dark but it seems it's another wet and windy day today, surely there can't be much rain left in the sky ? Think I'll have to re-order the Ark 🤣Thanks NMLC for the start off, hope you can have a quiet and calm day today. Many hugs and cwtches to Mehefin.I was awake at silly o'clock ( 4 am ) and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and had a cuppa, with a dunking biscuit of course ! Don't know what today will bring but my goal is to dust and hoover the living room. Tea yesterday was delicious, lovely stodgy comfort food, just what the doctor ordered. My arm is still sore but not as much as yesterday and the aching seems to have subsided a bit, I've never had that reaction to the flu jab before.Hope everyone can have a good day. Hugs to those in need.Take care, stay safe and hopefully dry if you have to go out.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Morning All
Rain woke me up at 4.30 so I've done some Yoga, I'm still rubbish at it! No walking again today as the rain is too heavy, hope it's better next week. I may go back to swimming early in the morning as I'll get wet anyway!
Hugs to you Mehefin, hope Sallylab's leg improves.
Nanny, the only thing I don't seem to get with flu/covid jabs is a sore arm (you watch, I'll get one now).
Friday again, haircut tonight now as the hairdresser has been away on holiday and cancelled yesterday.
Right, I'm going to get the ark out and get to work, have a good day and take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We have early drizzly stuff but then bits of sunshine and thankfully that blustery wind has dropped - for now at least.
Due to the change of plan because of the inclement weather I had a lovely afternoon at the carvery with bestie.. It was quite busy but we vacated to the little bar after our meal, clutching our bottle, and we had it to ourselves so we could chat in peace. I got home to find DD had popped in after work and left me a bunch of roses, two cupcakes and a card to say they were thinking of me. Later DS texted to say he had been thinking of me so it all helped me get through what could have been a bad day.
Today is Friday Tidy day, dust and vac up, down and all around. And I may even be tempted to clean a couple more windows. Then the end of month banking if I can get my financiers head on straight!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Hi everyone,
I'm just waiting for the surgery to open for telephone calls before trying to get an appointment. My heart seems to be settling down a bit now, I don't take nay medication for it, it's just a case of waiting it out when I feel ill, very annoying but not too bad compared to a lot of people's problems.
This afternoon Steve is going to play golf with Brian so I will have Esben for fun and games. He was at nursery yesterday and at last seems to have settled in there and for the first time he ate his lunch which he has usually refused there. Apparently they have had a few cases of impetigo so fingers crossed he hasn't picked that up!
TA, I'm glad your day was good.
Mehefin, sorry you had a bad day, I hope you haven't got too sore a head.
Best wshes to all the poorlies.13 -
Morning folks.More battering rain early this morning though the sunset last night was spectacular, so much red through it. So much for 'red sky at night...'
Yesterday was quiet again, I seemed to fritter away time for most of the day. I lit the wood burner in the afternoon and had a wee snooze on the sofa. Eventually it was time to go out for my flu jag at the surgery. It was all done so efficiently, I had hardly sat down when it was my turn and then I was in and out so quickly. The nurse said that they had learnt the organisation of it from dealing with Covid vaccines. My arm is sore to the touch but I'll not do that. This morning I'll have the usual three-way telephone call from Oz at about 9.00a.m. and then I don't know. There's a few emails to reply to so I'll knuckle down to that. If the rain stops I may go for a walk though a trip into town may be required too. I'll download the new Covid status app onto my phone, that could be really easy or a PITA.Mehefin - have a hug from me.Snoozer - glad you're feeling better. My DM had AF for many years during which a drug regime certainly helped to stabile the condition. I hope you manage to get an appointment.Keep well, warm, dry and safe everyone. Happy Friday.14 -
Morning everyone little dog has been walked not a bad morning but I just walked in the door and the heavens opened don’t know where that come from looks like we are in for another wet and windy one isn’t it dark early I don’t like that . Morning all; still wet here as well, although not actually raining at the moment.
I've just had a pre op phone call with the nurse prior to my cataract operation next Friday and she recommended that I don't attend the outdoor event I was going to tomorrow, just to be on the safe side. Luckily I'm not an essential person for that so the others can carry on without me. I'll need to get stocked up with food over the weekend though as DH and I have to isolate after doing my Covid test on Tuesday.
Today DD is calling in to collect a few things. It was so cold yesterday we lit the log burner; first time for a couple of years. It's still warm downstairs this morning, even though its gone out, so we might re lay it and light it again this afternoon.
Hope the day goes well for everyone.12 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
We have had rain but the sun is making an attempt to shine. I have a mixed load in the washer, hopefully will get it dry on the line.
Cleaner back next week, its bed change week. I have done my best to keep the cleaning under control.
Sat at the machine for over 2 hours yesterday, I am getting through the snowflakes, the machine is behaving itself so far, will see what today brings. I have changed one of the presents from snowflakes to a lace doiley. need to put my thinking cap on for a little something for the coffee morning ladies.
Gardener here this afternoon, expecting 2 clematis for the arch to be delivered, so he can put them in as well as weeding the front garden. I also have some plants to go in there and strulch to go down.
My daughter contacted us yesterday to say they were safe? turned out they are in Greece on Crete, there was an earthquake there. I was not even aware they were away. Hey Ho, good job we did not need them for anything.
Fish, chips and peas tonight, will finish off the rice pudding for dessert.9 -
Really enjoyed my first session of mindful yoga yesterday and it helped with the back pain so I will go weekly.
Very unsettled here so will try to nip out between the showers for a bit of shopping. Will sew up my “ twiddle muff” and decorate later on. They are given to Alzheimer’s patients who suffer from restless hands
Gave in and put the heating on for a short while, oK so far today
Glad you coped with the anniversary TA, not easy I know9 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It's not raining here yet but it looks like some is due. Steve's going out for breakfast and a wander round the shops this morning, I shall strip the bed, such excitement!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.9
