in Cutting tax
I am not sure where is best to post this but i just had my tax code changed to account for the working from home allowance, the new tax code is correct but the pay slip seems wrong, i dont think i am paying enough tax now as i have used salary calculators and it just doesnt add up on the income tax point, can anyone help?
basic pay - 3250
commission - 61.97
total payments 3311.97
income tax 393.8
nat ins - 301.8
pension (5%auto entrolment) - 139.6
total deductions 835.2
net pay 2476.77
tax code 1288L
i calculate it that i have underpaid income tax? Is that correct? If so what do i do, tell work then i pay them pay the overpayment so they can pay the tax correctly?
This is the first month on the new tax code so i think its the first wrong pay slip.

I suspect that you are forgetting that an increased tax code half way through the tax year means that when the new tax code is used for the first time you receive the benefit for the past few months all in one go.
And then next month you will pay what you probably consider the correct amount of tax from then on.
Putting a single months details into a salary calculator isn't going to give you the correct answer as tax is calculated based on your total earnings for the tax year when you have a cumulative tax code.
Trying using the HMRC calculator and let us know if you still think it's wrong.

Ah! Yes I hadn’t considered that at all and didn’t realise it would be retrospective for some reason. That makes sense now. I’ll try that calculator thank you0
