I've had the type you mention from elsewhere and it leaves a rim of plasticNot that it matters round here, council does not take the food trays anyway, clean or not, coloured or not, just unwanted along with yoghurt & marge tubs
Still so many viewers, so few responders. Why do some peel easily, others are unpeelable even impossible? If you have found an easily peelable brand, please share. Thanks.
My local council will take almost any thing, glass, card, trays, nearly all plastic etc but commit a sin, by overfilling, bit of non recyclable yuck, bin not left out on the right day, and in the correct postion, and the bin remains unemptied. You ring up and it goes in with the trash and yuck the following week.
When so much effort has been wasted, many peeps stop bothering and just cover up any sins.0 -
I'm not a ready-meal person so didn't share your pain until I roasted a pan of prepped Mediterranean veg last week. In the end I just cut round the edge with a sharp knife; for 10p I wasn't going to complain. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -

Thank you. 10p wow.
We tried Iceland cottage pie yesterday, guess what, no plastic tray covering.
Contained within a cardboard box that was not air tight. It was rather yummy with loads of tommy sauce0 -
If you want to get all the plastic off stab it in the middle and pull the plastic towards the sides. If you start too near the edge it just keeps tearing leaving a half inch edge of film.
Is it that important? Just another of life's little annoyances really, - also removing the film completely instead of re-covering has never seems to make any difference - and I do eat quite a lot of ready-meals.
What I find more annoying is the ridged plastic tray/container which means you can't get all the contents out cleanly.1 -
