I received a message on the Waitrose website this morning giving me a priority chance to book a Christmas delivery slot - which I did immediately as I know I missed out badly last year, and it also said that their Christmas slots would be available generally from 6th October. So for everyone to whom it hasn't occurred  to think about Christmas, it looks as if it's time to keep a look-out on whatever supermarket you use as the slots tend to disappear quite quickly.

  • Thank you, just booked mine
  • Thank you @GaleSF63 just booked mine. I'm a priority customer but hadn't received the email, weird. Once I logged in, I was able to book a Christmas slot. However a lot of the Christmas stuff isn't available yet eg gluten free mince pies.

I did nab organic port, 425g confit de canard, 90g rouille, 500ml organic chocolate ice cream, 4 litres organic milk, 2 100g bars of Lindt 90% chocolate, 1 pack of Parma ham, small box of Booja Booja chocolate truffles, and a pot of organic double cream and with delivery charge total was £62.06 for 11 items.

I'll just go faint quietly in the corner..

Look on the bright side.  Christmas only comes once a year.   :D

We splash out on Hotel Chocolat goodies for Christmas then a month or so after Christmas get some good bargains on their website or at one of their shops.  One year we bought a huge Christmas box in February about 80% off.

Odd. I'm a priority customer and no e mail prompt but booking slots only go until end October, am I missing something?

Given shortages on the shelf, isn't it better to shop yourself if you can so if you can't get important items you pop somewhere else to get them?

How I’d love to be able to do that.

Because of problems with Christmas stock, even pre- Covid and pre- Brexit, I started ordering Christmas food from Abel & Cole and Riverford. If something is out of stock it will show as sold out. If they get more, it goes live again. If you order, weeks in advance, you will get what you ordered because they allocate stock to orders. They don't have a free for all whereby the early deliveries get the stock even if the order was placed two weeks or more, beforehand.
