Universal Credit/Council Tax

I have made a claim to UC and have only received 1 application form for a council tax reduction. Will my daughter who is a joint tenant with myself have to make a separate claim for Universal credit in order to claim a council tax reduction

The rules on council tax reduction are set by the local authority and have nothing to do with whether you claim UC or not; although both require you to be on a low income or have no income from other sources. Your daughter would have to make her own application for council tax reduction, you would declare that you have a non-dependent resident living with you on your application.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

For the purposes of council tax reduction calculations they will apportion the council tax charge between the two of you, so you can each only get help towards 50% of the bill (even though you both remain jointly liable for payment). She would need to claim council tax reduction if she wanted help towards half the bill.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
