Halifax timeline and other peoples experiences. Regarding mortgage process.

Options
Its been the absolute longest week of my life and its been 5 days.

So, long story short. We have an MB, who has done all the work for us.
He checked through out credit score on (check my file) other than a handful of late payments on my account over the last few years mine is fine.
My partners, is excellent. Perfect lender.
He is self employed, taken all of the current grants. Mortgage advisor didn't seem concerned that this was an issue. Took all of our information, we got our mortgage in principle, made a bid on a property. Got our mortgage application in (Halifax done a hard check within a day of receiving this) then they set up the valuation for the 29th. Now we are just waiting and I am so mentally drained. Halifax contacted our MB just to confirm the dates of the valuation and that theyd be in contact after this. I just need to hear positive stories of some other people who have may have been in a similar situation and have been through the mortage process this year. The internet is a huge mixed bag of scenarios and im desperate for some positivity.

    Hello,

I can't comment from a self-employed perspective as I am employed but, I have only good things to say about Halifax. I used a broker and from start to finish, it was a quick and surprisingly pleasant process.

    Good luck!

  • Hi

Very similar to your situation, husband self employed etc…applied with Halifax via MB after a nightmare with NatWest and another MB….anyway new MB with Halifax, hard search done, valuation completed, firm offer and then complete and exchange, very quick and no further checks done.

Very quick and as above only good things to say about Halifax.

    Good Luck 🤞
 I NEED TO CHANGE MY BAD LUCK RUN!!!!
  • FTB here. Went directly to Halifax, no broker. The Halifax advisers were professional and helpful. The entire process has been very smooth, no hassles at any point. So very happy with them although neither of us is self-employed and we both have good credit scores.

  • Just a wee update! Got the house! Valuation was done early! Soooo excited now. Halifax are sooo quick, albeit felt like the longest week ever.
  • Well done Natasha.

Another happy Halifax customer here. Got my mortgage approved in two weeks, including valuation, back in April.

Went direct and thought they were great.
