Completion this Wednesday but mortgage been passed for final check?

Solicitor has been in touch this morning, bank are happy with everything and we’re completing on Wednesday however the bank have said the case has been passed for final checking, is this normal?

Yes. Checks can be done up until the last minute.

Does this mean they could decline the mortgage even though they’ve said yes?

Yes but nothing to worry about unless you've done something like taken out a car on finance since your application was approved.
