Ofgem appoint Shell Energy as Green's SoLR

I haven't heard anything, just kept checking the Ofgem site.
As with everyone else I'm looking forward to the massive price hike. Was on a fix with green until January totalling £606 (wrangled £45 a month DD from £50 thanks to their top up bonuses). With the Flexible 2021 tariff at Shell I calculated £914.24 and £76.19 a month DD.
Looks like I'm going bust as well!0 -
I left Peoples in January for green, obviously not the best idea now. Must admit I was happy with green, shame they weren't given a good chance or any help to keep going. On the 13th September they posted they were taking on new staff on their website and literally days before I asked how they were coping and they said they were doing well and I had nothing to worry about!Hansplace said:Lucky you people. I am on people energy and is being transferred to Lousy British Gas
My brother was with Peoples and my sister with Avro so we're all anxious to see how things go.0 -
It's a nightmare isn't it. I was on a variable at Green which was going up in October but the Flexible 2021 tariffs at Shell are still much more than the new Green rate was going to be, particularly the daily standing charges. No central heating for us this winter

It's bad - we're looking at a huge increase in bills. It's not a great time for it to happen with everyone working from home nowadays.0

That’s part of the issue too though so much more energy being usedindigoben said:It's bad - we're looking at a huge increase in bills. It's not a great time for it to happen with everyone working from home nowadays.0 -
Europe is closing down coal-fired power stations and moving to gas; we have been producing 50+% of our electricity from gas as someone turned off the wind for nearly 6 months. Russia is exploiting the situation to its economic advantage. To make matters worse, a number of our nuclear power stations are being decommissioned or are on long term maintenance. There is no shortage of gas: the issue is, are we all prepared to pay what the market is demanding. The oil markets are predicting further price rises in the run up to Christmas. The present gas crisis is known as a ‘Black Swan’ event - similar to a pandemic. Governments don’t like to plan for Black Swan events: they would rather do nothing and take a chance that it will not happen whilst they are in power.worrywart_3 said:

Just had my welcome email from Shell. They also advised not to cancel the direct debit as it will be ported to Shell.
(Too late for me!)0 -
Same here, I cancelled my DD as soon as they announced they had gone bust, just didn't really think about it!razord said:Just had my welcome email from Shell. They also advised not to cancel the direct debit as it will be ported to Shell.

Do you think it will cause an issue?0 -
Shouldn't they be using the credit that is transferred over from green? There must be a few of us with hundreds in credit. Why the heck wasn't green using the credit we bought and instead continued to use DD?0

I can't say for sure, but I suspect not - I cancelled mine too. I imagine that all it means is they will need to contact everyone without a DD to get one setup, and then chase those who don't reply - so it's more work for them.ymakesmile said:
