Mortgage whilst on a probationary period for new job

Hi everyone i am just querying whether my probationary period at my new job will affect my mortgage application, I signed my new job contract on 28/04/21 and was told at the time there would be a 6 month probationary period but in all this time i have been told repeatedly by my boss not to worry as i have the job and they want to keep me. The problem i have is I've just had an offer accepted on a house and the mortgage lender wants to know if I'm on a probationary period and to view my employment contract, will this prevent me from getting a mortgage? my probation finishes on 28/10/2021 which is long before i am due to complete on the house (searches are going to take around 11 weeks!) so i feel it wouldnt be an issue but i am worrying now!

  • Depends on the lender.
Mine made a mortgage offer, but wouldn't release funds to complete the purchase until passing my probation.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • It depends.

I applied for a mortgage with Halifax a few weeks before my probation ended and had the further issue of working fixed term contracts.  I can't remember if the mortgage was approved before or after the probation was officially confirmed as passed but I definitely applied for it first.  I was told by Halifax that as long as I had been working in a similar role for a year and had at least 6 months left on my contract it would be ok.

Mortgage end date: 2041. Goal: Anything less!
    Mortgage currently paid off: 4%
  • I’ve just been offered a mortgage by Santander whilst still on my probationary period, with no conditions. They just needed 3 payslips. All went through very smoothly.

Some lenders offer a mortgage whilst on a probationary period whilst others don't. You're more limited as to which mortgage offer to accept whilst on a probationary period but it's still possible to get one.
  • ive been told its all ok as my probation will end, before we complete .

Really does depend on the lender.
I've just got a mortgage completed with HSBC last week and it was during my probation (I started in April too) and have just passed my probationary period today.

The common main things lenders look at are 3 months bank statement and 3 wage slips.
