Santander offer extension

Hi, we have a mortgage offer until the 29th October. We are wanting to complete that date the only problem is we are also purchasing the freehold and the freeholder solicitor is on annual leave til the 30th sept. I’m not to sure where they are upto with it but they did say it can be done in October. I’m just wondering if I should and is it easy enough to ask Santander for a mortgage extension of 30 days or will they make us re apply and do credit checks and send payslips etc again! Last time it took a while to get our mortgage offer and we are very close to completion we could of completed now if it wasn’t for the freehold purchase.
